Who we are

Our approach

TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM is a private initiative that has been building bridges between art and science since 2018.
TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM provides a presentation and discussion space for projects dealing with aesthetic, scientific and social issues.
TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM offers a platform for the exchange of contemporary aspects of art, design and science. It serves as both a project space for exhibitions and a hub for fostering interdisciplinary connections through events and discussions. The exhibition programme covers various areas of fine art (painting, photography, sculpture, media, product design) and architecture as well as industrial and communication design. Lectures and symposia forge a link between artistic creations and developments in technology, the natural sciences and the humanities, both in terms of content and by association.

Our goals

TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM offers forward-thinking contributions that foster the comprehension of a society that is growing increasingly complex.
More than anything else, TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM sees itself as a hub for civic engagement within an open and democratic society.
The successful realisation of any project depends on the professionalism of those invited to take part. Moreover, the hope is that the dedicated and critical engagement of visitors will significantly enhance the success of our transdisciplinary approach. Another one of our aims is to organise interventions and actions in public spaces.

Where you’ll find us

A historic petrol station, built at the end of the 1920s by the EVERT company from Dresden on Zwickauer Straße in Chemnitz. The location was home to a petrol station until the 1950s; later it was used as a vehicle service station. Today, the old building holds listed status due to its original expressionist architectural style.
In 2007, an exhibition pavilion was added, which was designed as a glass structure that almost seems to have been slid under the petrol station roof. This was used as a showroom for construction elements until 2018 before becoming TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM in October 2018.

Who is involved?

TANKSTELLE PROJEKTRAUM was launched in 2018 as a privately financed initiative by Christian von Borczyskowski and Rolf Lieberknecht.
